I would love to celebrate Bastille Day with the mouthwatering offers at Pierneef-a-La-Motte, and then continue the weekend by watching boule and pottering around the Bastille market. It is so different and distant to where I am - Mogadishu, Somalia, where bombs this week have claimed lives and I am reminded that even though we feast and fete Bastille, there are some parts of the world where Egalite, Fraternite, Liberte are totally foreign concepts and still but a dream. To remind me of a different world, I shall visit Franschhoek, even if just for the escapism, when I return home for a few days.
